Regular Meeting – August 18, 2026

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Board members present: Chris Demas, Kristen Foerster, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe, Jason Abate and John Gromek were also present.
The minutes from the July 2026 meeting were presented by Clerk, Monica Gromek. Linda Palchick motioned to approve the minutes; Chris Demas seconded. Vote was taken: Chris Demas, Kristen Foerster, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe. All in favor, motion carried
Treasurer report – Rick Izant
Rick Izant distributed the August 2026 treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report showed: checking balance forwarded: $9,771.05; total disbursements: $27,115.20; Total deposits: $18,700.00; Ending checking balance: $1,355.85, Ending Savings Balance: $6,539.32; Total disbursements: $18,000.00, Total encumbered funds: $0. Improvement Fund as of 7/31/26: $5,149.93. Kristen Foerster motioned to accept the treasurer’s report. Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken: Chris Demas, Kristen Foerster, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe. All in favor, motion carried.

The resolution to accept the amounts and rates for 2027 was passed and approved with all board members in attendance at the meeting. A copy of the resolution is attached to the official minutes.
Facilities – Linda Palchick
Soccer Club began their games this past Sunday, but no schedules from Tina (Rec Council) have been received, as of yet.
Soccer practice will be on the lower field, and coach asked the field can be lined. Linda will tell the Soccer Club in the fall. Russell Days have been rescheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026 – the original date in the summer was rained out. There are several pavilion requests for usage.
There were bees on the playground and in the lower bathroom. Jason Abate sprayed them. Maria is here everyday at the Park. 3 doggie pots are broken. New ones cost $100.00 each on Amazon. Rick Izant motioned to encumber $350.00 for steel boxes. Kristen Foerester seconded the motion. Vote was taken: Chris Demas, Kristen Foerster, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe. All in favor, motion carried. Empowered Sports is still using the baseball field Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and the field has been lined.
Rick Izant motioned to encumber $300.00 to make our website ADA Compliance. Linda Palchick seconded. Vote was taken: Chris Demas, Kristen Foerster, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe. All in favor, motion carried.
General discussion on our Pickle Ball project. More $$$ are needed for completion of this project. Sara Sustin is attending the Kiwanis meeting tonight. Russell Township has committed monies for 2027; could possibly be used for fencing around the court. All donations received will go on a permanent sign at the site. Discussion on the upcoming Russell Days in September. Could a 30-minute pickle ball lesson be given? The Chagrin Valley Times can do an article on this event.
Next meeting is Tuesday September 15, 7 pm at the Commons Pavilion. Linda Palchick has submitted a permit to the Board of Education, so we may use the high school library for our fall, winter and spring Board meetings.
