Regular Meeting – July 9, 2024

The Commons Pat Jasko Pavilion 14070 Chillicothe Rd., Novelty

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Board members present – Ed Curtis, Frank Formicelli, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Sara Sustin and Greg Poe, Evan Byrum, Jason Abate and John Gromek were also present.

The minutes from the June 2024 meeting were presented by clerk Monica Gromek.   Ed Curtis motioned to accept the minutes; Rick Izant seconded.   Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes. Evan Byrum, yes: All in favor, motion carried.

Treasurer Ed Curtis distributed the July 2024 treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report showed:  Ending checking balance: $40,447.45; Total disbursements:  $0; Savings account ending balance: $24,407.34; Total deposits: $9.34; Encumbered funds: $1,250.00; Unencumbered funds: $1,250.00. Frank  Formicelli motioned to accept the treasurer’s report. Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes: Evan Byrum, yes: All in favor, motion carried.

Sara Sustin motioned to pay these bills; Evan Byrum seconded. Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes; Evan Byrum, yes: All in favor, motion carried.

Ed Curtis distributed to the Board the 2025 Budget analysis.  Discussion of the figures that will be submitted to the State of Ohio.  Projects:  pave more of the path 3’ now; make it 4’ wide. 

ANNUAL APPROPRIATION RESOLUTION                                                                                                                 

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT                                                    

The Board of Trustees of the West Geauga Community Joint Recreation District, Geauga County, Ohio, met in General session on the 9^th day of July, 2024 at the West Geauga Commons Park with the following members present:  Ed Curtis, Greg Poe, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Frank Formicelli, Evan Byrum and Sara Sustin. Linda Palchick moved the adoption of the following Resolution:                                                                                             

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the West Geauga Community Joint Recreation District,    Geauga County, Ohio that to provide the current expenses and other expenditures of said Boards of    Trustees, during the fiscal year ending December 31, 2025 the following sums be and the same are hereby set aside and appropriated for the several purposes for which expenditures are to be made for and during said fiscal year as follows,   

GENERALFUND 

                                             That there be appropriated from the GENERAL FUND for:   

60  Program Facility Expense $97,000 (from the Total General Fund)

CAPITAL FUND101               

Capital Improvement                             $______25,000__________   

Rick Izant seconded the resolution and the roll being called upon its adoption, the vote resulted as follows:  Ed Curtis, yes; Greg Poe, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Evan Byrum, yes and Linda Palchick, yes.  Adopted this 9^th day of July, 2024.

A quote was given by Jason Abate to paint both bathrooms.  $750.00 to prep and pressure; inside painting; paint floor/ primer to hold to former paint.  2^nd coat.

Another suggestion is to possibly dig out the parking lot to the baseball field; to fill in holes in the field.  Frank Formicelli motioned to encumber $2800 to Abate, 60’ x 20’ area.  Rick Izant seconded.  Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes; Evan Byrum, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

There will be Sunday night adult soccer games.  2 pavilion requests

Maintenance – Jason Abate                                                                                                                        

Jason chopped down a willow tree; put grindings on the path; planted flowers; trimmed bushes and will fertilize depending on the weather.  Baseball Field – weeds have been sprayed.  1 15-min drag was done with fencing – it was ineffective.  Chris Domonkos has someone to do 1 good drag of the field.  Rick Izant will confer with Chris Domonkos.  The field was sprayed by Dom with a drying agent.   1 Picnic Tabe was donated from Rick Izant and is now located at the baseball field. Volleybnall nets are OK (bought 3 years ago);  Soccer nets could be replaced; approx. cost $300/set.  Maybe for the spring of 2025.

Rick Izant motioned for meeting adjournment at 7:52 pm.  Frank Formicelli seconded.  Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes; Evan Byrum, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
