Regular Meeting – June 18, 2024

The Commons Pat Jasko Pavilion 14070 Chillicothe Rd., Novelty

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Board members present – Ed Curtis, Chris Domonkos, Frank Formicelli, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Sara Sustin and Greg Poe. Jason Abate and John Gromek were also present.

The minutes from the May 2024 meeting were presented by clerk Monica Gromek.   Rick Izant motioned to accept the minutes; Christ Domonkos seconded.   Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Chris Domonkos, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

Treasurer Ed Curtis distributed the June 2024 treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report showed:  Ending checking balance: $48,237.45; Total disbursements:  $7,590.00; Savings account ending balance: $24,398.00; Total deposits: $2,509.55; Encumbered funds: $1,250.00; Unencumbered funds: $71,385.45. Frank  Formicelli motioned to accept the treasurer’s report. Sarah Sustin seconded. Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Chris Domonkos, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

Chris Domonkos motioned to pay the following bills:

Linda Palchick motioned to pay these bills; Chris Domonkos seconded. Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; Chris Domonkos, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Greg Poe, yes; All in favor, motion carried.

Ed Curtis asked the Board to reschedule July’s board meeting to Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 6:30 pm to discuss the 2025 budget; due mid-July 2025.  Projects for 2025 will be included in this budget. Chris Domonkos questioned if grant money can be obtained for 2025 path extensions.  Sarah Sustin questioned if the baseball field parking lot could be expanded.  Jason Abate can dig out the expansion and put gravel in. Rick Izant questioned if the prep for the baseball field be done for over the winter.  Jason Abate can fill in the needed areas with dirt; possibly 5-7 yds. Would be needed.  Discussion at July 2024 meeting. 2 new picnic tables needed at the baseball field.

Facilities – Linda Palchick                                                                                                                              

Children soccer finished.  Men’s soccer starting now through October 27.  Tournaments will be September 25. 2 pavilion requests for the end of June have been received.

Maintenance – Jason Abate                                                                                                                        

Jason reports grass has been cut; 1 sycamore tree by the baseball field was trimmed what could be reached.  Jason will have a lift in August and will top this tree (will give us a quote).  One picnic table will be removed from the pavilion and will replace a table by the baseball field.  Bench?  Jason will work on it to lift and reset.

Old Business –

Chris Domonkos talked with Altmedia about our website.  Linda Palchick has updated the Park History + pictures will be posted next.  The info on lacrosse has been removed.  Graphic designer needed for pictures to be edited.

Rick Izant opened discussion that the Baseball Federation is not dragging the field before games.  They are not doing their job.  There are 14 draggings on the schedule they submitted.  Iosue backed out of the dragging responsibility.  Frank Formicelli will talk with Jerry Flescher.  Players have reported they are still noticing rocks coming up in the infield.  Kelly from the Baseball Federation will be approached.  6/25/24 is the next drag; Linda will discuss with Kelly from the Federation.

Girl Scouts has approached the Board with a 2025 project to be done on the volleyball courts.  Linda Palchick reported that traps for mosquitos will be installed.  Soccer Association/Club is concerned that parents need to watch their children and be vigilant of the surroundings.  No action is needed by the Board

Jason Abate said volleyball and soccer nets are needed.  The signs along the drive need to be straightened.  Some signs need to be replaced.  Jason will get info/research.   

Frank Formicelli motioned for meeting adjournment.  Sara Sustin seconded.  Vote was taken: Ed Curtis, yes; Chris Domonkos, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Sara Sustin, yes; Greg Poe, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
