Regular Meeting – November 21, 2023

West Geauga High School Library – 13401 Chillicothe Rd. Chesterland

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.  Board members present – Evan Byrum, Ed Curtis, Chris Domonkos, Frank Formicelli, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe.  Jason Abate was also present.

The minutes from the October 2023 meeting were presented by clerk Monica Gromek. Ed Curtis motioned to accept the minutes.  Rick Izant seconded.  Vote was taken – Evan Byrum, yes; Ed Curtis, yes; Chris Domonkos, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; John Gromek, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Greg Poe, yes. Motion carried. 

Treasurer Ed Curtis distributed the October 2023 treasurer’s report.  The treasurer’s report showed:  Ending checking balance: $ 38,654.85; Total disbursements:  $1,695.00; Savings account ending balance: $21,824.07; Total deposits: $9.55; Encumbered funds: $400.00; Unencumbered funds: $60,088.92.  John Gromek motioned to accept the treasurer’s report.  Rick Izant seconded.  Vote was taken.  Motion carried.

Maintenance – John Gromek and Jason Abate 

Jason Abate stated he wants to try to blow the leaves 1 more time.  A fiberglass stake broke for the doggie bag station.  Jason suggested a metal stake replacement will be more durable.  John Gromek motioned to encumber $300.00 for doggie bag posts.  Frank Formicelli seconded.  Vote was taken.  Evan Byrum, yes; Ed Curtis, yes; Chris Domonkos, yes; Frank Formicelli, yes; John Gromek, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Greg Poe, yes. Motion carried.

Frank Formicelli reported that the meeting minutes are now updated.  He needs a word file of the Joint Rec Board history.  Officers listed are current; as the meeting dates.  

Discussion by Board on our baseball field.  Rick Izant said a park baseball field installed at Chagrin Falls River Run (near Chagrin Garden) cost $21,000.  He will research who did the work.  Chris Domonkos will call the City Manager.

Greg Poe reports that Andy, who was going to paint our bathrooms, said our bathrooms are too vial to send his employees in to paint.  Greg will discuss with the Geauga Parks about their bathrooms cleanliness.  We are back to square one with the painting.  Jason Abate offered his crew to paint them next summer.

New Business                                                                                                                               

Chris Domonkos retyped the original 1977 Joint Rec Board bylaws and converted them to Word.  Amended in 1979 before the Park was started.  Should there be a resolution concerning the length of trustees’ terms and area government bodies we are associated with? Plus, Newbury is newly added.  Board to review at our December meeting.

Ed Curtis stated that our county audit is due in 2024.  Next meeting December 19, 2023, 7:30 p at the WG High School library.
