MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING 

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT 

October 18, 2022  

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at West Geauga Library. Board members present – Evan Byrum, Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe, and Sara Sustin. Jason Abate was also present.  

The minutes from the September meeting presented from Monica Gromek. Rick Izant motioned to accept the minutes. Linda Palchick seconded. Vote was taken– Evan Byrum, Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe, and Sara Sustin. All in favor, motion carried.  

Treasurer Ed Curtis distributed the September treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report showed:  Ending checking balance: $41,750.95; Total disbursements: $9,050.00; savings account ending balance $21,717.22. Total deposits: $2.68; Encumbered funds: $8,067.50; Unencumbered funds: $55,400.67. Ed Curtis motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; Evan Byrum seconded. Vote was taken. – Evan Byrum, Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe, and Sara Sustin 

Linda Palchick motioned the following bills be paid  Sara Sustin seconded the motion. Vote was taken – Evan Byrum, Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe, and Sara Sustin.

 Monica Gromek October minutes                  $25.00

 Abate Landscaping Cut down 32 trees        $2,043.89

 Abate Landscaping 2 new toilet seats, doggie bags, sanitizer        $1,184.59                                       

Facilities – Linda Palchick 

Soccer is finished for the season. There is a Pavilion request from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m. this Thursday, October 20, 2022.  

Maintenance – John Gromek and Jason Abate 

The basketball court has been sealed and striped. 2 Memorial benches have been ordered and shall arrive in 4-6 weeks. (for Walt Waetjen and Bernie Mandel). Jason Abate has cleaned up lots of leaves, fertilized the fields. Will aerate the fields when soccer is done. The volleyball nets are down. Discussion to add a pickle ball court on one of the volleyball courts. John Gromek will get information on it.
