MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

DECEMBER 11, 2019

Vice President Bernie Mandel called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at the library at West Geauga High School.  Board members present – Ed Curtis, Frank Formicelli, John Gromek, Bernie Mandel, and Linda Palchick.  Jason Abate also present.  

The minutes from the November meeting presented by clerk, Monica Gromek.  Ed Curtis motioned to accept the minutes.  John Gromek seconded.  Vote was taken:  Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; All in favor, motion carried. 

The November treasurer’s report was distributed by Treasurer Ed Curtis. The treasurer’s report showed:  Ending checking balance: $24,733.80; Total disbursements: $1,151.98; Total deposits: $272.46 Encumbered funds: $1,000.00; Unencumbered funds: $44,457.85.  Frank Formicelli motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; John Gromek seconded.  Vote was taken:  Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; All in favor, motion carried. 

Linda Palchick reported that WG Rec Council has been billed in November for soccer games. 

Linda Palchick motioned to pay the following bills:                                                                       Monica Gromek                December 2019 minutes            $    25.00

Abate Landscaping          cutting down 13 dead trees       $1,000.00

John Gromek seconded.  Vote was taken:  Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; All in favor, motion carried.

Maintenance – John Gromek and Jason Abate                                                                               There are lots of branches down at the park.  There are 2 dead trees that Jason will push down towards/in the woods.  It has been too wet to aerate the fields.   Jason also reported that new soccer nets will be needed next year.

Discussion was held by the Board on the proposed Waetjen Trail.  Linda Palchick visited Willow Leaf Sign Co. in Middlefield, who did the sign at Eddy Field.  Diagrams of the trail sign will be needed.  There is a new product to make extremely strong signs ¾” thickness.  More information to be discussed at our 2020 meetings. 

Linda Palchick motioned for meeting adjournment at 7:20 pm.  Frank Formicelli seconded.  Vote was taken:  Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; All in favor, motion carried.
