MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

NOVEMBER 13, 2019

Vice President Bernie Mandel called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at the library at West Geauga High School. Board members present –Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Bernie Mandel, Linda Palchick, and Greg Poe. Jason Abate also present.

The minutes from the October meeting presented by clerk, Monica Gromek. Ed Curtis motioned to accept the minutes. Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken: Ed, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

The October treasurer’s report was distributed by Treasurer Ed Curtis. The treasurer’s report showed: Ending checking balance: $25,613.32; Total disbursements: $1,485.00; Total deposits: $4,144.16 Encumbered funds: $1,525.00; Unencumbered funds: $44,811.71. Rick Izant motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; John Gromek seconded. Vote was taken: Vote was taken: Ed, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

Linda Palchick motioned to pay the following bills. Greg Poe seconded. Abate Landscaping pump toilets 680.00; doggie bags 146.98; install $1,126.98 total Monica Gromek November 2019 minutes $ 25.00

Vote was taken: Ed, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

Linda Palchick motioned to remove the encumbered amount 225.00 for Pat Jasko’s sign. John Gromek seconded. Vote was taken: Ed, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes. All in favor, motion carried. This project will be done in 2020.

Facilities – Linda Palchick The soccer nets are down for this ye ar. Jason will aerate the fields when the snow melts. And he will finish the tree removal. The junior soccer field thickened up because the field was at rest this year.

Linda Palchick received a 2019 certificate award for our board for the oldest sycamore tree in Geauga county.

Jason Abate reported that there were no problems with the soccer tournament held at The Commons in late October.

New Business – Bernie Mandel said a replacement board member is needed for the vacancy of Walt Waetjen’s position, from Russell Township. How can the board perpetuate Walt’s name? soccer field? Baseball field? Waetjen Trail? Discussion to be held at our next few meetings.

Next meeting will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the high school library.
