MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

April 10, 2019

President Walt Waetjen called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at West Geauga High School Library. Board members present: John Gromek, Rick Izant, Bernie Mandel, Linda Palchick, and Walt Waetjen. Jason Abate also present.

The minutes for the: March 2019 meeting were presented. Bernie Mandel motioned to accept the minutes. Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken: John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Walt, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report for March 2019 was distributed. The March treasurer’s report showed: Ending checking balance: $33,689.49; Total disbursements: $9,525;00; Total deposits: $30,600.00; Encumbered funds: $1,800.00; Unencumbered funds: $59,605.69. Bernie Mandel motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; John Gromek seconded. Vote was taken: John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Walt, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

Facilities – Linda Palchick Soccer begins April 13. Fields are good. Schedules given to John Gromek and Jason Abate.

Maintenance – John Gromek and Jason Abate Trails have been dragged. Sticks removed. Munson Valley Landscaping did the baseball diamond prep today. All weeds removed.

Playground – Rick Izant Organizing sand order. A formal letter will be sent to Kiwanis Club for possible donation. Approximately 3 trucks of sand will be needed to be delivered to our playground.

Karen Wright, a teacher at Westwood Elementary approached our Board with a request. Students are reading a book “Secret in Westwoods”. Families are

encouraged to explore 4 parks May 13 and May 26. Have their Park Exploration cards punched to collect all 4 unique punches for a chance to win prizes.

Next monthly board meeting May 8 at The Commons Pavilion. 7:00 pm.

Rick Izant motioned for meeting adjournment at 7:16 pm. John Gromek seconded. Vote was taken: John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Walt, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
