MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

JUNE 14, 2006

Meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm by Chairperson Walt Waetjen at The Commons Pavilion.  Roll call was taken by clerk, Monica Gromek.  Board members present:  Chuck Poole, Walt Waetjen, Randy Fredieu, Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Mike Bonner, Linda Palchick.  Chuck Baliker was also in attendance.  Absent:  Robert Schwarz.

Minutes from the May meeting were presented by Clerk Monica Gromek.  John Gromek motioned to accept the minutes.  Linda Palchick seconded.  Vote was taken.  Chuck, yes; Walt, yes; Randy, yes; Ed, yes; John, yes; Mike, yes; Linda, yes.  All in favor.  Motion carried to accept the minutes.

TreasurerÕs Report was presented for May, 2006, by Treasurer Ed Curtis.  Ending Checking Balance: $6,385.20; Total disbursements: $6,137.00; Total deposits: $4.08; Unencumbered Funds: $33,245.73; Encumbered Funds: $27,475.00.   John Gromek motioned to accept the treasurerÕs report.  Chuck Poole seconded.  Vote was taken.  Chuck, yes; Walt, yes; Randy, yes; Ed, yes; John, yes; Mike, yes; Linda, yes.  All in favor.  Motion carried to accept the treasurerÕs report.

Linda Palchick motioned to pay the following bills.  John Gromek seconded. 

            $1,100             Eugene DiFranco        Fertilization, renovation of baseball field.

            $3,120             Eugene DiFranco        32 hours of labor – baseball field

            $     40             Post Office                  Annual Post Office Box rental fee

Vote was taken.  Chuck, yes; Walt, yes; Randy, yes; Ed, yes; John, yes; Mike, yes; Linda, yes.  All in favor. 

Monica Gromek read the Annual Budget Resolution. 

Park Usage – Linda Palchick

Chuck Baliker reports that Metzenbaum held a picnic at the pavilion last week, which was an all-day affair with entertainment (a magician.)  No permit was applied for.  Mike Bonner will call Metzenbaum to explain the procedure for applying for a permit to use the pavilion.

John Gromek motioned and Linda Palchick seconded, to disencumber $150.00 for

Randy Fredieu motioned to approve $2200 for 2 par x applications by Eugene DiFranco for the soccer fields @ $1100 per application.  Linda Palchick seconded.  Vote was taken.  Chuck, yes; Walt, yes; Randy, yes; Ed, yes; John, yes; Mike, yes; Linda, yes.  All in favor. 

Walt Waetjen introduced Tony Krouse to our Board.  Tony was appointed to a 3-year term by the West Geauga Board of Education, as the BoardÕs newest member.  Welcome Tony.

The Board would like to see our website updated by Ohio Connect.  Randy Fredieu will contact Steve DiFranco to discuss.

Chuck Poole asked if the Board could approve the high school boyÕs soccer boosters to sell concessions from the pavilion as a fund raiser.  Items will be sold to the soccer teams using our fields.

John Gromek said that he would discuss the Boy Scout Service Project with Robert Schwarz before our July 2006 meeting.  The July 12 regular monthly WGCJRD meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. with a cookout at the Pavilion. Food provided by Ed Curtis.

Legal notices for the Budget will be placed local newspapers by treasurer, Ed Curtis.

John Gromek motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:04 p.m., Randy Fredieu seconded.  All in favor, motion carried.

The Board members then walked a few areas of the Park to review summer projects.
